The International Association of Marriage and Family Counselor - a national division of the American Counseling Association - is pleased to sponsor the 9th annual Northampton Summer Institute, which will be held at Park Campus, University of Northampton (UK) - May 10-14, 2012.  The University of Northampton is located approximately 60 miles northwest of London and is within easy commuter train distance of Birmingham, Gatwick, and Heathrow international airports - and central London sites.
 
The theme for the 2012 Institute is "Leadership for the Future - developing the next generation of professional and organizational leaders." The Institute will bring together a small group of graduate students, professionals, educators, and association leaders for the 4-day event - with a particular focus on cultivating and developing professional leaders.  In addition to presentations and sponsored program activities, the Institute schedule includes time for taking in the sights of Northamptonshire - including optional day trips to central London and the English countryside village of Harlestone. 
 
Individuals who wish to present a paper or presentation on the Institute theme - or a relevant research or clinical practice topic -  may submit a proposal to the Institute Planning Committee for consideration, c/o Dr. Brian Canfield at DrBSC@aol.com
 
Institute participants will receive 18 hours of NBCC-approved continuing education credit through IAMFC, including 3 hours in ethics training.  The NSI provides an opportunity for colleagues - as well as "colleagues-in-training" - to discuss a leadership development issues and other professional topics in an informal setting rich in history and diversity.
 
The $575 fee for the 2012 NSI includes four nights housing (Thursday through Sunday) at the Sunley Management Centre - a modern hotel facility with private bath - located at Park Campus.  (A limited number of single occupancy rooms are available on a "first come" basis for an additional cost of $125.)  The fee includes a daily full English breakfast served in the Sunley conservatory.  Airfare, ground transportation, incidental expenses, and meals other than breakfast are not included in the Institute fee.
